The Volunteer Experience
Volunteering with Outdoor Explorations allows you to combine your love for the outdoors with working with people of all abilities. Volunteers are the heart of running our inclusive outdoor adventure programs. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and have various strengths and abilities. What each person shares is a passion for OE’s mission and a dedication to bringing together people with and without disabilities for outdoor adventures.

The Facts About Volunteering

How Do OE Volunteers Contribute?
Every OE Program is staffed with a trip leader and three or more volunteers. The volunteers help on trips in many ways, including guiding people, working one-on-one with participants, leading games, and trip preparation and wrap-up. Volunteers can also lend their time and skills to OE by assisting in the adaptation of outdoor equipment, speaking at conferences about our programs, or helping in the office. Volunteers are required to attend volunteer training before participating on a trip.

"I believe taking a leadership role is nothing more than guiding someone. Telling people what to do is not helpful. It is letting people learn for themselves with guidance because nine times out of ten they can do it themselves."
-Kapil Kamra, OE volunteer since 1996
